They are commonly found in outdoor structures like sheds, garages, and woodpiles. They may also be found in undisturbed indoor areas.
The bite of a black widow can cause severe pain, muscle cramps, fever, and chills. While fatalities are rare, medical attention should be sought if bitten.
Reducing clutter and sealing cracks in structures can help deter black widows. Wearing gloves when working in potential habitats is also advised.
